So I just got back from Bacuag, Surigao del Norte, and I'm so happy for the success of the 4th Bacuag National Skimboarding Open. The first day was the arrival of the skimboarders, and it was nice to see everybody just hang out with each other, that's what skimboarding is all about. Then the first night was started with an open forum, and don’t ask me, I was asleep, haha.
The second day was the start of the competition proper; it was a long day of skimboarding because they got 20 heats that day. It was narrowed down to 20 skimboarders on the second round, 10 on the third round and eventually we end up to the top five skimboarders or the finalists namely Brando of Tanauan, Obet of Tanauan, Bayugyog of Mati, Dingdong of Iligan, and Rioben of Tanauan. But one has emerged as champ despite of the bad wave condition and its Brando of Tanauan.
There were also some other activities going on such as freestyle skim competition, bikini open, and bikini abri(this is a skimboarder’s stuff). We also got to see Austin Keen, Exile Pro, doing a demo on the second day, and everybody has to stop and watch his amazing monkey drops and sick aerials and flips, it really inspired every skimboarders out there. Thank you Austin.
